The maximum download quality depends on the original upload. If someone posted a 720p video, no tool can give you 1080p.
What About X Premium's Download Button?
X Premium ($8/month) adds a native download option — but only on mobile, only for videos where the creator enabled downloads, and only for posts made after July 2023. You also don't get to choose the resolution.
For desktop users, or anyone who needs to pick a specific quality, a dedicated downloader is the faster option.
Why Some Download Sites Don't Work Anymore
In 2025, X overhauled its API security — adding request signing, URL expiration tokens, and blocking requests from known datacenter IPs. Many older download tools broke overnight. The tools that still work use alternative data sources: syndication endpoints, embed APIs, and methods that don't rely on the main API.

Tips for Downloading Twitter Videos
- —Public tweets only. Videos from private or protected accounts can't be accessed by any external tool.

- —Respect copyright. Downloading for personal use is fine. Reposting someone else's video as your own is not.
- —Try the direct URL. If the share button gives you a shortened link, grab the full URL from your browser's address bar instead.
